Going Along: Two Readings of a Place is a proposed screen-based artistic research project exploring how attention to place is formed through walking, return and repeated encounter. It begins in Barroso, northern Portugal, and extends to a second place brought by a partner researcher. Across four seasonal returns, two researchers with differently formed relations to place walk both territories, attending to what becomes perceptible through repeated presence and to how their ways of noticing change over time.
The project asks whether attention formed in one place can awaken another way of attending elsewhere, and how this passage might be made perceptible through moving image and sound. The outcome is conceived as a two-channel installation for the WIRE Artistic Research Exhibition 2028.
I am looking for collaborators in filmmaking/moving image, sound, and research concerned with vernacular or place-based knowledge, as well as a partner who can bring a second place into the project.
